THE Small Pond Video PRODUCTION PROCESS

The following is a step-by-step process we use to develop support for our clients.  Following this process, Small Pond will produce the project within an agreed upon budget and create a smoothly executed technical program. This simple formula shows the key checkpoints needed to assure that program content and creative direction is on target.

1. The Pre-Production Phase.

During this phase, the creative approach and concepts are finalized; the overall look, design, objectives, and other critical parameters are set and agreed upon. The Small Pond team presents a schedule outline and initial creative concepts.  The production schedule is modified, as necessary. Crews, talent, equipment and travel arrangements (if necessary) are booked.  Scripts are written and approved according to the concept and approved budget. Small Pond Video Productions has found that allocating the appropriate amount of time and resources during pre-production is key to reducing cost in the most expensive elements of a video or a live event (production and post-production).

On live events, multimedia and live elements are tested for timing and flow and lighting design and special effects are prepared for integration at the venue.  At this point, the set and all audio/visual gear and staging is prepped and packed, then trucked or shipped to venue. Rehearsals, lighting, focus and programming, as well as staging the completed program in the actual venue, all comes together.  The program is fine-tuned during executive and management rehearsals with the client, dress rehearsals with the talent and technical rehearsals with the crew.

2. The Production Phase.

It is during this part of the project in which all the elements are created.  Audio tracks are recorded, sets are built, video is shot and animations are created.  Technical designs and layouts are refined and confirmed.  The Small Pond Video Productions team ensures that all approved elements of the production are executed, on time and on budget.

3. The Post-Production Phase.

This is the portion of the production process that concerns itself with special effects if any, editing, narration recording, sound effects selection and editing, integration of computer graphics, and creation of the final music tracks.  Once “approval cuts” of videos are completed, client copies are sent for approval.  Minor revisions are incorporated and the final products are delivered.
